Raised on a family farm, Stephen was taught strong values and learned the importance of hard work. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Stephen and his wife, Roxane, are raising their family in Mapleton and enjoy traveling and snow skiing together with their children. They have built their family life on the premise shared by N. Eldon Tanner that “service is the rent we pay for living in this world of ours.”

Stephen built a nationally recognized career in strategic communications providing public relations expertise to organizations in Washington, DC, New York and around the world. A former UVU tenured professor and Associate VP, he is also a small business owner. Stephen’s full time work is Executive VP of University Relations at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

Elected in 2021, Stephen is committed to serving YOU in the Utah House of Representatives and representing House District 63 in Mapleton, Springville, and Spanish Fork. He serves on several key committees including Chairing the Public Education (K-12) Appropriations Committee. Among his colleagues, Representative Whyte is known for his contagious smile, high integrity, tireless work ethic, and ability to effectively unify diverse groups around common-sense solutions to tough problems.
